With the Piko 58863 type B4yg conversion car, you can bring a piece of German railroad history to your H0 layout. The German Federal Railroad developed these four-axle cars in the mid-1950s to meet the increasing demand for passenger service - using proven components from older cars. The result: durable, modern passenger coaches with a new steel superstructure that remained in service until the 1990s.
The B4yg coaches were the result of the so-called conversion coach program, in which the underframes and bogies of older vehicles - mostly from the Länderbahn era - were combined with new, welded steel superstructures. The four-axle coaches were fitted with double doors in the middle (without a central pillar) and improved weather protection thanks to door seals. With a top speed of 120 km/h, they were a quantum leap compared to the previous three-axle coaches.
The model is set in Era IV and shows the Deutsche Bundesbahn wagons with Minden-Deutz bogies. Detailed reproductions such as attached brake cylinders, battery boxes, toilet pipes as well as filigree handles and steps underline the high-quality model construction. Interior lighting and a tail light can be retrofitted for additional realism.
Whether in a regional train or express train formation - this car fits perfectly into classic train sets of Era IV. Thanks to the close coupling kinematics and NEM shaft, problem-free integration into existing train compositions is guaranteed.
The Piko 58863 B4yg conversion car offers a detailed design, high operational reliability and historical flair - a must for every H0 layout with a German theme of the post-war period!
