Prototype: MaK G 1206 - The backbone of the heavy shunting service

The G 1206 was developed by Maschinenbau Kiel and later continued under Vossloh AG. With an output of up to 1570 kW, axle arrangement B'B' and a top speed of 100 km/h, it is one of the most flexible diesel locomotives in Europe. It is equipped with engines from Caterpillar or MTU and is frequently used in shunting and mainline service by private railroad companies - also in cross-border traffic in the Netherlands.

Model technology and design

The model has a factory-installed PIKO sound decoder with an 8-pin NEM 652 interface. The furnished driver's cab, the detailed roof section and the prototypical printing emphasize the high quality of the model. The headlights change in white/red depending on the direction of travel. Two traction tires provide excellent tractive power. The locomotive is equipped with an NEM shaft, but without a close coupling set.
