About the prototype: At the end of the 1960s, the German Federal Railroad needed new powerful diesel locomotives to keep up with freight traffic on the road. This became the BR 151, which was produced from 1972 to 1978 in a quantity of 170 units. After the unification of the Reichsbahn and the Bundesbahn, the BR 151s were assigned to DB Cargo. Today, the locomotives are gradually being taken out of active service and either decommissioned or sold on to private companies, which then continue to use the locomotives for freight transport.
About the model: This model from Piko depicts such a class 151 sold to a private company. This is in service with saar-rail. The model features precise printing in the design of the locomotive's new employer in gray and orange, as well as many small details of the original paint scheme. The model also impresses with various structural details. AK buffer beams, whistles, attached grease pumps, Indusi, plugs and cables on the bogies and attached windshield wipers are just part of the overall scope. With the digitally switchable interior lighting, the faithfully replicated interior can be perfectly staged. Further switchable lighting functions and outstanding driving characteristics complete this all-round successful model.
