The PIKO 97138 Corail 1st class passenger coach represents the upscale long-distance service of the SNCF in Era IV. As part of the well-known Corail car family, this model stands for comfort, modern design and the typical French express train style of the 1970s and 1980s. With its elegant color scheme and fine detailing, the car complements prototypical long-distance sets on national and international routes.
The passenger compartment visible through the windows is typical of the 1st class design: spacious seating arrangement, calm color scheme and generous window areas convey a feeling of comfort even in the model. The fine printing and authentic coach numbering round off the exterior appearance harmoniously and make the coach an eye-catcher in any Corail composition.
With a length over buffers of 303 mm and a minimum radius of 358 mm, the car is ideally suited for operation on all standard H0 DC layouts. The excellent rolling characteristics ensure smooth running - even in long trains. The car can be converted for use on AC systems with the appropriate AC exchange wheel sets (item no. 56060).
The 1st class coach was part of many SNCF Corail trains, both in the national TEE and Intercités sector as well as in international traffic - for example towards Germany, Switzerland, Luxembourg or Belgium. For model railroaders aged 14 and over, the PIKO 97138 thus offers an ideal opportunity to represent train sets of Era IV true to the original.
