The PIKO 97141 SNCF Corail passenger coach in 2nd class is a typical representative of the French express train service of Era IV. The Corail car series was the backbone of the comfortable passenger service of the French state railroad from the 1970s and set new standards in terms of ride comfort, design and technical equipment. This type of carriage was used throughout the country on national and international services.
A look into the passenger compartment shows the typical open-plan layout of 2nd class with a clear seating arrangement and ensures a realistic interior feel. The fine engravings, precise window frames and clean printing make the coach particularly visually appealing. This makes it an ideal fit for authentic Corail train sets of the late 1970s and 1980s.
The car has a length over buffers of 303 mm and is suitable for a minimum radius of 358 mm. The excellent rolling characteristics ensure smooth operation even in longer trains. Thanks to the DC wheel sets, the car is ready for immediate use. Suitable AC interchangeable wheel sets are available for AC layouts under item number 56060, which also allows use on Märklin layouts.
Corail coaches like this one were not only used on routes within France, but also in international express trains, for example to Switzerland, Germany, Luxembourg or Belgium.
