The PIKO 97142 SNCF Corail pack wagon is a typical representative of the French passenger train service of Era IV. With its classic paint scheme and the detailed reproduction of the car body, it authentically complements train sets of the French state railroad. The carriage was not only used to transport luggage, but also had a 2nd class compartment - ideal for shorter journeys or staff traveling on business.
A well thought-out feature of the model is the view into the interior, which realistically depicts the compartment structure and the load compartment. The elaborate detailing ensures a convincing appearance and makes the carriage a visual highlight in any Corail train set. The careful printing and the harmonious color scheme round off the prototypical design.
The pack wagon is not only visually impressive, but also technically: The excellent running characteristics ensure reliable operation, even in longer train sets. With a length over buffers of 303 mm and a minimum radius of 358 mm, the model is suitable for standard H0 layouts. Thanks to the standard DC wheel sets, the car is immediately ready for use; suitable AC exchange wheel sets are available for AC operation with item number 56060.
As part of the French Corail wagon family, the PIKO 97142 can be used both in national SNCF trains and in international traffic. It complements passenger train connections to Belgium, Luxembourg or Germany as well as intra-European express trains. For model railroaders aged 14 and over, the vehicle offers an attractive addition to the classic European train sets of the 1970s and 1980s.
