The Piko 97532 electric locomotive EP09 of the PKP Intercity is a detailed DC model that brings modern long-distance transportation in Poland perfectly to the H0 layout. As one of the most characteristic express locomotives of Era VI, the model impresses with its faithful reproduction and technical flexibility for digital retrofitting.
The EP09 was developed by Pafawag in Wroclaw at the end of the 1980s as a locomotive for continuous operation at 160 km/h. It was created as a replacement for the ageing and limited availability EP05 locomotives. The new class 104E met all of PKP's requirements, so that a total of 47 locomotives were procured by 1997. It was used throughout the country and almost completely replaced its predecessors.
The model depicts the EP09 in the typical PKP Intercity livery of Era VI. It has numerous fine details such as metal pantographs, realistically shaped roof superstructures and precise lettering. The driver's cab and engine room are detailed and can be illuminated in digital mode.
Thanks to the integrated PluX22 interface, the locomotive can be easily equipped with a sound decoder (e.g. PIKO #56636) and a suitable loudspeaker. The lighting is already equipped ex works with LED light change in white/red, and the driver's desk lighting can also be switched digitally.
The Piko 97532 EP09 is an ideal model for international long-distance trains, Eastern European railroad themes and modern express train layouts. High-quality workmanship and digitally upgradeable - now available in the model railroad store!
