With the Piko 97540 CC 65000 diesel locomotive in DC version, PIKO is bringing a true classic of French railroad history to the H0 tracks in a model. In the 1950s, this impressive class heralded the end of steam operation at the SNCF and still stands for the pioneering era of diesel transportation in France today.
The CC 65000 - originally designated type 060-DB - was a twin-engine diesel-electric locomotive that was developed from 1956 for mixed express and freight services. For decades, it shaped the image on the non-electrified lines in western France - from Nantes via Tours to Bordeaux and La Rochelle. Two locomotives have been preserved, including the CC 65001 in the Cité du Train railroad museum in Mulhouse.
The model shows the original version of the CC 65000. The metal body not only gives the locomotive stability, but also a realistic weight. In addition to an illuminated driver's desk, the model has a detailed driver's cab and engine room interior. Numerous attached parts such as sand boxes, sand pipes, brake shoes, speedometer drive and horns ensure a prototypical appearance. Brake hoses and coupling hooks are included.
The locomotive has an NEM 658 PluX22 interface and is therefore ready for simple retrofitting with a sound decoder (e.g. PIKO #56658). In digital operation, the cab and engine room lighting can be switched separately. The light changes in white/red depending on the direction of travel using modern LED technology.
The Piko 97540 CC 65000 offers the highest level of detail, robust technology and a strong presence on the model railroad - ideal for fans of French railroad history and diesel traction.
