The Piko 97832 D&RGW 4001 diesel locomotive is a fascinating model of the modified KM 4000 series in the version of the Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad. This DC model is equipped with a factory-installed sound decoder and realistically represents the locomotive as it was in the mid-1960s - including all structural and color features.
As with its sister locomotives, numerous modifications have also been made to the D&RGW 4001. The model features side air intake grilles, filter boxes, roof vents and the exposed exhaust system with typical flap valves. PIKO has carefully implemented these changes in the model. The paintwork also corresponds exactly to the historical model of the SP 9100 series.
A powerful motor with balanced flywheels gives the model excellent running characteristics. The LED lighting with direction-dependent light change in white/red can be switched digitally and brings additional realism to the layout.
A factory-installed PluX22 sound decoder and a tuned loudspeaker provide an impressive sound image. Realistic engine noises and other sound functions significantly enhance the driving experience - ideal for digitally controlled DC systems.
With its powerful appearance, precise details and prototypical modifications, the D&RGW 4001 is a real highlight for model railroaders who want to faithfully reproduce American railroad charm on their H0 layout.
The Piko 97832 D&RGW 4001 diesel locomotive impresses with its technology, attention to detail and acoustic performance - now available in the model railroad store!
