The Piko 97833 D&RGW 4001 diesel locomotive is an authentically modified version of the famous KM 4000 locomotives and shows the machine in mid-1960s condition. This AC model with factory-installed sound decoder brings American flair to your model railroad layout in the striking paint scheme of the Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad (D&RGW).

Modified prototype with striking features

As with many machines in this series, the SP KM 4000 has also been provided with individual modifications. The replica of the D&RGW 4001 includes side air intake grilles, filter boxes, roof vents and exposed exhaust systems with flap valves - all of which have been implemented exactly as in the original. The color scheme also corresponds to the historical model with great attention to detail.

A powerful engine with two balanced flywheels ensures smooth and powerful running. The LED lighting technology allows the lights to change in white/red depending on the direction of travel and can be switched digitally.

Sound & digital - fully equipped at the factory

The integrated PluX22 sound decoder brings realistic operating sounds and numerous digital functions directly to your layout. A tuned loudspeaker provides a rich sound experience. The locomotive is immediately ready for use in AC digital operation.

American power based on European technology

The D&RGW 4001 fits perfectly into US scenarios with a focus on Era IV to V. It can be ideally combined with typical freight cars and is an absolute eye-catcher in any US shunting or mainline operation.
