The Piko 97836 D&RGW 4003 diesel locomotive is an impressive replica of the modified KM 4000 diesel locomotives in the striking color design of the Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad (D&RGW). This AC model with factory-fitted sound decoder accurately reproduces the condition of the locomotive in the mid-1960s and offers the highest model building quality in American style.

True to the original with numerous modifications

The originally almost identical SP KM 4000 locomotives were heavily customized over the course of their service life. PIKO has consistently implemented the specific modifications of the D&RGW 4003: These include side air intake grilles, filter boxes, roof vents and exposed exhaust systems with realistic flap valves. The paintwork is also based exactly on the original and presents the D&RGW version in a harmonious way.

A powerful motor in conjunction with two balanced flywheels ensures smooth and powerful running. The locomotive has state-of-the-art LED lighting with white/red light changes depending on the direction of travel. All light functions can be controlled digitally.
