The Piko 97838 diesel locomotive SP 9022 is an impressive replica of the modified KM 4000 locomotives of the Southern Pacific Railroad. Equipped in a DC version with a factory-integrated sound decoder, this model faithfully reproduces the locomotive as it was in the mid-1960s.

Modified version with many special details

The SP 9022 originally belonged to a series of almost identical "triplets", which differed greatly from each other over the years of use. PIKO has carefully implemented these individual modifications: The model shows side air intake grilles, filter boxes, roof vents as well as exposed exhaust systems with flap valves. The color scheme also corresponds exactly to the prototype.

The powerful engine, together with two balanced flywheels, ensures smooth running characteristics and high tractive power. All light functions are implemented in the latest LED technology and can be switched digitally. The model does not have an NEM coupling shaft - a concession to the faithful reproduction of American locomotives.
