Functions of the ESU LokSound 5 decoder:

• F0 – Turn the white headlights on/off (signal Pc1); they change direction-dependently
• F1 – Turn the red tail lights on/off (Signal Pc5); they alternate depending on the direction of travel

Notes on decoder functions:

• On the SM42/SU42/SP42 model, the shunting lights are only turned on on one side and do not alternate depending on the direction of travel, as they do on the actual locomotive of this type.
• Various engine start modes can be selected: Press F8 once – warm start; press F8 twice – faulty start; press F8 three times – cold start.
• F28 activates manual power level adjustment. When F29 is activated, F29 can be used to increase the power level and F30 to decrease it. To return to normal mode, F28, F29, and F30 must be turned off. If F28 is off and F29 is pressed, the diesel engine will run at full speed.
