Description

The Deutsche Reichsbahn's class 108 diesel locomotive is equipped with a revised drive system and has separately applied plug-in parts and free-standing, filigree grab irons. The Deutsche Reichsbahn designated four-axle mainline diesel locomotives for medium-duty service as the class V 100 (from 1970: class 110). In contrast to the original 110 series, the locomotives of the BR 108 have a flow reversing transmission and a consumption-optimized engine with reduced power. In accordance with their new purpose as shunting locomotives, the boiler could also be omitted, and additional cooler groups and a preheater were installed in its place.
