The Roco 6200053 is a high-quality set of 3 passenger coaches that faithfully reproduces the legendary D 377 "Hispania-Express" of the Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB) from Era IV. This set is a must for model railroad enthusiasts who value historical accuracy and excellent workmanship.
The "Hispania Express" was an international express train that ran between Copenhagen and the Spanish border station Port Bou from 1963. From 1969, the route was shortened to Hamburg - Port Bou. In Germany, it was operated as an accelerated express train with a maximum speed of 160 km/h, comparable to TEE and IC trains. In the 1976/77 timetable year, the train ran a particularly large number of 1st/2nd class coaches (ABüm), the typical Deutsche Bundesbahn coaches. In order to reach the speed of 160 km/h, the carriages were equipped with magnetic rail brakes, and the first examples in ocean blue/beige livery were used.
Era IV (1965-1990) was characterized by modernization and standardization. The Deutsche Bundesbahn introduced new colour schemes and modernized its fleet. The "Hispania-Express" is an example of the international connections and comfort offered by the DB during this period.
