The Roco 6200196 mail/baggage car is a two-axle model of the class Dp of the Polish State Railways (PKP) from Era IV. With its fine detailing, authentic lettering and compact design, it is an excellent addition to PKP passenger trains of this era. It is designed as a supplementary car to the car set item no. 74019 and brings additional realism to train formations of the 1960s and 1970s.
Mail/baggage cars like this one were an integral part of many PKP passenger trains. They were used to transport passengers' luggage as well as mail and express goods. In Era IV, such cars were used especially on branch lines and in regional trains and supplemented makeshift passenger cars with an important logistical function.
The model has a complete interior, which is clearly visible through the windows. The lettering and paintwork are prototypical. With its compact length of 136 mm over buffers, the car fits perfectly in trains with makeshift passenger cars and other Era IV vehicles.
The car is equipped with a coupler pocket in accordance with NEM 362 and close coupler kinematics, which enables safe operation and close car transitions. The model is designed for direct current operation (DC analog) and can be converted with an AC wheel set (item no. 6560) for Märklin systems.
In combination with the makeshift passenger cars from the set item no. 74019 and other PKP cars from Era IV, a realistic regional or branch line train from Polish railroad history can be recreated. This makes this mail/baggage car the ideal addition for all model railroaders who want to represent authentic train formations from Central and Eastern Europe.
