Roco IC control car "IC 2310", class Bpmmbdzf 286.3, of the Deutsche Bahn

At the beginning of the 1990s, DB began developing driving trailers for long-distance services. The first 75 driving trailers were created by converting passenger coaches from Halberstadt production.After delivery of the first two series, PFA Weiden began production of twelve pressurized IC driving trailers. These coaches are designated Bpmbdzf 297.3 to distinguish them from the "conventional" version. After the conversion as part of the "ICmod" overhaul, the vehicle number of the control cars was retained, but their designation was now Bpmmbdzf 286.3. The additional "m" in the generic designation stands for modernization. In this version, all units are still in IC/EC service.
