The Roco 6280007 2-piece set offers a detailed reproduction of two double-decker coaches of the Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR) from Era IV. These cars, type DBmue, are among the best known and most frequently used vehicles in local transportation in the GDR. The double-decker cars offered a particularly efficient way to handle large numbers of passengers on routes with high traffic volumes. The set contains two cars that are characterized by their high-quality design and prototypical details. With an overall length over buffers (LüP) of 446 mm, the carriages are ideal for any TT model railway layout.
In 1971, VEB Waggonbau Görlitz delivered two prototypes of the double-decker single-deck car to the Deutsche Reichsbahn. These coaches offered a flexible solution for changing passenger numbers, as they could transport twice as many passengers as conventional coaches. After a successful test phase, series production began in 1974 and around 138 vehicles were delivered. These double-decker coaches were mainly used in the southern conurbations and on routes with high traffic volumes.
The lower floor of these carriages was fully equipped with seats, which increased passenger comfort and made the carriages very popular in local transport. The introduction of the double-decker coaches marked an important step in the modernization of GDR local transport, as they offered a cost-efficient and space-saving solution.
The Roco 6280007 double-decker coach set is an exact replica of the DR double-decker coaches. Both coaches are equipped with interior fittings that make the model look even more realistic. The carriages can also be retrofitted with interior lighting, which makes them particularly interesting for use on illuminated model railway layouts. The detailed reproduction of the rows of seats and the two floors is true to the original.
The carriages are equipped with a coupling in accordance with NEM 358, which has close coupling kinematics. This ensures a reliable connection between the carriages and a close train connection, which improves the overall appearance on the layout. The set is also compatible with the matching double-decker car set 1 (item no. 6280006) so that longer trains with several cars can be realized.

The cars can be operated on DC analog systems and are prepared for the subsequent installation of interior lighting to further increase the realism on the layout.
