The Roco 6600116 set includes two type Tcs sliding roof cars of the Hungarian State Railways (MÁV) in Era IV. These cars are typical representatives of the freight traffic of the 1970s and 1980s and were designed for the transportation of weather-sensitive goods. With their robust construction and distinctive sliding roofs, they were indispensable in international freight transport.
Sliding roof wagons were introduced by the railroad companies to protect goods such as bulk goods or sensitive general cargo from the effects of the weather and still enable easy loading and unloading. The Tcs type wagons were used throughout Europe, including in cross-border freight traffic. MÁV used these wagons in various freight trains, where they impressed with their versatility and durability.
The two wagons in the set are finely detailed and prototypically labeled. The characteristic sliding roof is clearly visible and the engravings on the sides are sharp. With a buffer length of 228 mm, the wagons fit seamlessly into freight train formations and ensure a realistic appearance on the layout.
The cars have coupler pockets in accordance with NEM 362 with close coupler kinematics, which ensures close car transitions and safe operation. The cars can be converted with AC wheel sets (item no. 40183) for operation on Märklin layouts. The set is designed for direct current operation (DC analog).
The set of 2 is ideal for forming block trains or as a supplement to mixed freight trains in Era IV. Thanks to their authentic design and precise construction, the cars are an indispensable component for model railroaders who value realistic freight train representations.
