The Roco 6600217 is an open freight car of the Polish State Railways (PKP) from Era IV. It is a class .E (Wddoh) car that is equipped with a brakeman's cab. This model is a typical representative of the Eastern European freight traffic of the 1970s and 1980s and is an important addition to existing freight train compositions.
Open freight cars such as the type Wddoh were used in many different ways by the PKP. They were primarily used to transport bulk goods such as coal, scrap or wood. The brakeman's cab allowed the brakes to be operated manually, which was still widespread in Era IV. Such wagons were an integral part of block trains, but were also regularly used in mixed freight trains.
The model impresses with a fine implementation of the wagon design with a detailed brakeman's cab. It is provided with true-to-original engravings and a prototypical paint scheme. With its length of 124 mm over buffers, it fits perfectly into PKP freight trains of this era.
The car has a coupler pocket in accordance with NEM 362 with close coupler kinematics, which ensures close car spacing and safe operation. It is intended for use in the direct current system (DC analog). It can be converted for operation on Märklin layouts with a suitable AC wheel set (item no. 6560).
As a supplement to the freight train set, item no. 6600101, this open freight car is a valuable addition for every model railroader with a focus on Eastern European rail traffic. It is perfect for realistic PKP train formations and gives freight trains authenticity and variety.
