The electric locomotives of the Ae 3/6ˡ series were procured in several orders from 1921 to 1929. Locomotive 10664 originates from the SLM and BBC workshops. Due to the long procurement period, technical innovations were also installed. This increased the locomotive's power from 1,450 kW to 1,600 kW. Thanks to the good running characteristics, the maximum speed could also be increased. From 1929 from 90 km/h to 100 km/h and for the more powerful locomotives (from no. 10637) in 1937, after adjustments to the running axle bogie, to 110 km/h.
Locomotive 10664, built in 1926, was based in the depots in Bern, Zurich and Rohrschach. From 1990 to 2010, it was used as a historic locomotive by the "Eisenbahnfreunde Zürichsee rechtes Ufer". It is still housed in the Rapperswil depot as an operational historic vehicle and is owned by the SBB Historic Heritage Foundation (SBB Historic).
