The Roco 70188 H0 VT 121 railcar is a precise model of the diesel railcar of the Süd-Thüringen-Bahn (STB) in Era VI and is a great addition to model railroad layouts in H0 scale. With authentic details and an elaborate interior, the railcar faithfully reflects the real vehicles that have been in use in southern Thuringia since 2001. The Süd-Thüringen-Bahn (STB) operates its vehicles on the rails of southern Thuringia and has 37 RS 1/Regio-Shuttle diesel railcars from the Swiss manufacturer Stadler. The railcar offers around 70 seats and is designed for regional local transport. With special spaces for wheelchairs, baby carriages and bicycles, it is optimally adapted to the needs of passengers on regional services and proves to be reliable and flexible, especially on branch lines.

The VT 121 railcar is based on a direct current system (DC) and is designed for the H0 gauge. With a length over buffers (LüP) of 293 mm and a minimum curve radius of 358 mm, the model can be used on most H0 layouts without any problems. Double traction requires a slightly larger minimum radius of 419 mm. The model is equipped with a PluX22 interface, which enables simple digitization and thus supports use on digital layouts.
Particularly noteworthy is the direction of travel-dependent light change with a 3 headlights at the front and two tail lights at the rear, which are designed in LED technology and provide realistic lighting. The diesel railcar is equipped with a center buffer coupling and an NEM 362 coupling shaft with close coupling kinematics, which allows flexible connection with other vehicles.
The elaborately designed interior of the VT 121 makes the model particularly authentic and true to detail. The 5-pole motor with flywheel mass ensures smooth acceleration and powerful driving performance. Two of the axles are powered, and one axle is equipped with traction tires, providing excellent traction and reliable operation - even in more demanding driving conditions.
