The German Federal Railroad steam locomotive, class 012, with propulsion on three axles of the tender and via the cardan shaft on all three driving axles of the locomotive. This model is equipped with low-slung sandboxes, a new construction boiler, and oil tender and fine metal wheel sets. In addition, an etched shield set is included and a smoke generator can be retrofitted.
The DRG's former stars were mostly in shockingly poor condition after World War II - especially in the area of the streamline fairing. After their removal and reconditioning, the class 01.10 formed an important mainstay in high-quality express train service. During various rebuilds and modernizations, but above all during the necessary reboiling, a total of 34 locomotives were converted to oil main firing towards the end of the 1950s. These more powerful engines could now be expected to make long runs of up to 700 km. In 1968, the 01.10s were redesignated 011 (coal) and 012 (oil). The last of these 140 km/h fast and 1,818 kW oil-fired engines were not taken out of service until 1975 at Rheine.
