The Roco 70465 E 412 013 electric locomotive is a powerful two-system locomotive from Mercitalia Rail, a subsidiary of the Italian state railroads FS. With its modern paintwork and high-quality technical equipment, it is a highlight for H0 model railroaders. The model impresses with digitally switchable light and sound functions as well as a detailed replica of the prototype.
In the 1990s, the Italian state railroads commissioned ABB Tecnomasio to produce 20 E 412 series dual-system locomotives. These locomotives were specially developed for cross-border traffic between Italy, Austria and Germany and are designed for a maximum speed of 220 km/h. Under 3 kV direct current and 15 kV 16 2/3 Hz alternating current, they have an output of 6 MW and 5.5 MW respectively. These locomotives have been in service since 1997 and have been repainted over time in the current Mercitalia Rail livery.

The 4 powered axles provide a high tractive force so that even longer freight trains can be hauled without any problems. The minimum radius of 358 mm allows use on most model railroad layouts.
Thanks to the factory-integrated digital decoder with sound function, numerous realistic operating sounds can be reproduced. The locomotive is equipped with a light change depending on the direction of travel, which can be controlled digitally.
