The Roco 7100038 steam locomotive 150.Y.16 is an authentic model of the French State Railways (SNCF) in Era III. This locomotive is based on the German class 52 and was manufactured during the Second World War in Strasbourg by the Société Alsacienne de Constructions Mécaniques (SACM). After 1945, the SNCF took over more than 100 of these locomotives and used them under the class designation 150.Y in heavy freight and passenger train service.
Between 1943 and 1946, over 100 locomotives of the war locomotive series 52 were built at SACM. In 1945/46, 17 further locomotives were built especially for the SNCF. In order to comply with the French clearance gauge, the locomotives were given a shorter chimney. Until the end of the 1950s, the 150.Ys reliably operated in front of heavy freight and passenger trains in the eastern region of the SNCF.
The Roco version impresses with numerous features true to the original:
In addition, the filigree implementation with many separately applied details ensures an authentic overall impression.
The locomotive is driven by two axles of the tender, the power is transmitted to all five driving axles of the locomotive via cardan shafts. A total of seven axles are driven, two of which have traction tires for additional tractive power. A flywheel mass ensures smooth running characteristics. This makes the locomotive ideal for realistic operation on the model railroad.
The model has 2 headlights in LED technology depending on the direction of travel. The locomotive can be digitized via the PluX16 interface. The model is also Z21 cab compatible so that digital operation can be made even more realistic.
