Description

Roco 7100039 H0 Steam locomotive 50 2146-4, DR, Era III-IV - New construction tender version from Dresden

The Roco 7100039 steam locomotive 50 2146-4 is an authentic model of the German State Railroad in Era III-IV for your H0 layout. This locomotive was based in the Zwickau depot of the Dresden regional depot and impresses with its characteristic 3-domed boiler design with Witte wind deflectors. The model is finished in a red-brown chassis paint scheme and offers numerous fine details, including grab irons on the buffer beam, a new construction tender and finely worked metal wheel sets.

Historic prototype with new construction tender

The class 50 was one of the most important freight locomotives in the German steam locomotive fleet. Only 354 units remained in East Germany after the end of the war, but they continued to play a major role for a long time. Older 50s were often coupled with new construction tenders of the 23.10 or 50.40 series, which were available after their retirement. As these tenders did not have a continuous rear wall, their use was not very popular with staff, especially in winter - a striking prototype detail that was also implemented in the model.

Finely detailed design

The model impresses with numerous faithfully reproduced details. The combination of the 3-domed boiler, Witte wind deflectors, new construction tender and metal wheel sets results in a harmonious image of a DR freight locomotive from the 1960s and 1970s. The grab irons on the lamps on the buffer beam are separately applied and emphasize the filigree design.

Powerful drive

The locomotive is driven via two axles in the tender, with power being transmitted to all five driving axles of the locomotive via cardan shafts. This gives the locomotive excellent driving characteristics. It has a total of seven driven axles, two of which have traction tires, as well as a flywheel mass for smooth running.

Technical highlights

The model is equipped with a PluX16 interface and is therefore prepared for digitization. The 3 headlights with LED technology, depending on the direction of travel, provide bright and prototypical lighting at both ends of the locomotive. With a length over buffers of 265 mm, the locomotive can be used on radii from 358 mm.
