Description

Roco 7110038 H0 Steam locomotive 150.Y.16, SNCF, Ep. III, DC sound - French war locomotive variant with digital sound

The Roco 7110038 steam locomotive 150.Y.16 brings a French version of the well-known German BR 52 war locomotive to your H0 layout. It was used by the SNCF in the eastern region of France in front of both heavy freight and passenger trains. With a factory-fitted digital sound decoder and numerous original details, this locomotive is a real highlight for Era III collectors.

Prototype history

The 150.Y.16 originated from the class 52, which was built in 1943/44 by the Société Alsacienne de Constructions Mécaniques (SACM) in Graffenstaden. After the war, an additional 17 locomotives were built for the SNCF. They were adapted to the French clearance gauge by installing a shorter chimney. Until the end of the 1950s, these robust locomotives dominated operations in eastern France.

Detailed model realization

The model is available for the first time in black/green paintwork and impresses with a multitude of finely executed details:

The high-quality workmanship ensures a harmonious appearance and makes the locomotive an eye-catcher on any layout.

Technology and drive

Drive is provided on two axles of the tender, with the power being transmitted to all five driving axles of the locomotive via a cardan shaft. A total of seven axles are driven, two of which have traction tires. A flywheel mass ensures smooth running characteristics. The integrated PluX16 sound decoder provides realistic steam strokes, braking and driving noises and significantly enhances the operation acoustically.

Lighting and digital functions

The locomotive has LED 2 headlights that change over with the direction of travel. In digital operation, the sound effects can also be conveniently controlled in addition to the light functions. The model is also compatible with the Z21 driver's cab, which provides a particularly realistic driving experience.
