About the model: The 01 508 steam locomotive is in German State Railroad design and is from Era III. The locomotive is 281 mm long (length over buffers) and is equipped with a digital interface. About the prototype: The German State Railroad feared that they would be able to keep fewer and fewer locomotives for express trains due to the partially poor condition of the class 01. Therefore, it was decided to reconstruct the 01, which also meant an increase in performance and the elimination of errors, and that has succeeded particularly well with this series. The new welded boiler got a third safety valve. All boiler superstructures were clad, the cab was modernized and the Witte wind deflectors were beveled at the front. Because the dome wheel sets had to be replaced due to broken spokes, some locomotives were fitted with cast steel Boxpok wheels. This made the Reko-01 one of the most powerful express steam locomotives of the postwar period.
