Description

The P 8 was universally deployable and could be found in front of all types of trains. After the turmoil of the two world wars, they were used by almost all European railroad administrations. They were in service in Belgium, Denmark, France, Greece, Italy, Yugoslavia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Romania, Czechoslovakia and the Soviet Union. In 1919, 162 locomotives were sent to France, of which 25 went to the AL, 25 to the EST, 75 to the NORD, 17 to the ETAT (as 230.943-959, all but the 943 decommissioned in 1940) and 20 to the MIDI. In 1945, four more locomotives went to the SNCF as war booty.
