Description

Roco 71396 H0 Steam locomotive 38 3713, DRG, Ep. II, DC sound - High-sounding Reichsbahn P8 as an edition model

The Roco 71396 steam locomotive 38 3713 is an exclusive sound version of the legendary Prussian P8 - an absolute highlight for fans of Era II. As an edition model in a special shape variant without dynamic steam, it impresses with its classic appearance with boiler without wind deflectors, authentic coloring and a multitude of fine details. In combination with prototypical sound and digitally switchable lighting, this model is a masterpiece of historical model railroad art.

Elegant appearance in Reichsbahn style

The 38 3713 appears in a typical appearance of the transition period around 1930 - still in the olive green/red-brown/black color scheme, but already with DRG signage. The absence of wind deflectors, the prototypical smokebox door and Reichsbahn lanterns for gas lighting give the locomotive an unmistakable look. The finely finished spoked wheels round off the classic overall appearance perfectly.

Digital driving fun with authentic sound

Equipped with a PluX22 decoder and high-quality sound functions, the locomotive offers a complete digital driving experience. The driver's cab and engine lighting can be switched separately and underlines the true-to-the-original appearance during operation. The precisely tuned locomotive sound ensures an acoustically impressive realization - from the steam blow to the whistle.

Technology and operational reliability for demanding layouts

With two driven axles, two traction tires and a flywheel, the locomotive offers optimum running characteristics. The in-house coupling with close-coupling kinematics ensures realistic train formation. Thanks to a minimum radius of 358 mm, the locomotive is also fully operational on compact layouts.

Icon of German railroad history

The class P8 was one of the most successful passenger locomotives of the Prussian State Railroad. Over 3,700 locomotives were built between 1906 and 1923. The DRG class 38 10-40 had an output of 880 kW, weighed around 130 tons with tender and reached speeds of up to 100 km/h. Their versatility and reliability made them a mainstay of passenger and express train service in the early days of the Reichsbahn.
