The Roco 7190014 represents the 44 139 freight steam locomotive of the Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft (DRG). In the version with photographic paint and Wagner wind deflectors, this model offers an unusual prototype in TT scale. The model shows the 44 139 with photographic paint, a special paint that was applied by the locomotive factories for photo shoots. The class 44 was created as part of the DRG's standard locomotive program in the 1920s. With its 1'E h3 axle arrangement, it was designed for heavy freight train service and could haul trains of up to 1,200 t in the low mountain ranges and 600 t over steep ramps. The first 10 locomotives were delivered in 1926, and series production began on a larger scale in 1937. The class 44 locomotives formed the backbone of heavy goods traffic in Germany for decades. The photographic livery was a special feature: it was used to make locomotives look better for presentations and advertising purposes and was applied exclusively for photographs.
The locomotive is designed for DC digital operation in TT scale and is ideal for use in Era II trains. It harmonizes perfectly with DRG freight cars and is an authentic eye-catcher on any layout.
