"Hercules" - powerhouse with myth

The diesel locomotive developed by Siemens was delivered to ÖBB between 2002 and 2004. With an engine output of 2,000 kW, a top speed of 140 km/h and its ability to control reversible trains, the locomotive is used throughout the Austrian rail network - from main line to branch line. The name "Hercules" refers to its high performance, inspired by the eponymous hero of Greek mythology.

Fine details and modern technology

The model comes with numerous attached parts - including handlebars, windshield wipers, UIC cans and enclosed exterior mirrors for folded and unfolded display. The contrasting colored brake disks and the striking ÖBB design also make the locomotive a visual highlight. The lighting is provided by LEDs; the headlights/tail lights can be switched with a DIP switch.

Technically fully equipped for flexible operation

Four axles are powered, one of them with traction tires, supported by a flywheel mass for smooth running characteristics. The locomotive has a PluX22 interface and is suitable for radii from 358 mm. Thanks to the NEM 362 coupling shaft and close coupling kinematics, it is reliable and versatile - even in double traction or push-pull operation.
