The Roco 73038 H0 digital railroad slewing crane from the Czechoslovakian State Railroad (CSD) from Era IV is an impressive model that is both visually and technically impressive. This fully functional, 6-axle railroad slewing crane is equipped with an onboard digital decoder and offers a variety of switchable light and sound functions. With its comprehensive functionality, including independent driving, a rotating superstructure and a movable telescopic boom, the crane is perfect for recreating realistic scenarios on the model railway layout.
The crane can drive independently or run in a train formation by manually unlocking the gear coupling. Thanks to the full 360° rotation of the superstructure without a stop, the smooth movements and precise control, the crane can be operated effortlessly to playfully lay bridges, points or track yokes. The boom can be set horizontally for working under overhead lines, and the telescopic boom remains fully functional in any working position, even when loads are suspended from the crane hook.
The railroad slewing crane was an indispensable vehicle in the railroad operations of the CSD (Czechoslovakian State Railways). It was used for heavy-duty work, such as the construction and repair of bridges or track systems. Its high flexibility and ability to lift heavy loads and move them precisely made this crane an important part of construction and maintenance work.
With its 360° rotating superstructure and movable telescopic boom, the crane could also be used in confined working areas. The special design and robust construction made it possible to work precisely even under difficult conditions. The model from Roco captures these characteristics perfectly and offers model railroaders the opportunity to recreate realistic construction work on their layout.
The Roco 73038 digital railroad slewing crane is an outstanding example of Roco's innovative strength in model making. The model is equipped with an onboard digital decoder and numerous switchable functions, including light and sound functions that can be controlled via the Z21multiMAUS or the Z21 WLANMAUS. In addition, the Z21 app offers a specially adapted control system that makes using the crane particularly intuitive. For even more fun, the model can even be controlled with a PS4 controller.
The crane has a movable telescopic boom that can be extended and retracted as well as raised and lowered. The crane hook is precisely controlled via a multi-rope pulley and can safely lift and lower loads. The crane operator's cab and the working lamp on the telescopic boom are also illuminated and can be switched digitally to create a realistic working atmosphere.
The Roco 73038 digital railroad slewing crane is designed for operation on H0 layouts with a 2-wire direct current system (DC). The crane has a length over buffers of 234 mm and can also travel in trains when the gear coupling is unlocked. It is controlled by an MX659N18digital decoder, which controls the sound and light functions as well as the movement functions. The crane is equipped with LED lighting and the headlights can be switched digitally.
The telescopic boom can be operated in any position and the crane has movable outriggers that provide additional stability. The crane is driven by one axle and has traction tires that provide sufficient traction, even on difficult jobs. The crane is supplied with a protective trolley containing a bearing block, counterweight and support base to make the operation even more realistic.
The Roco 73038 H0 digital railroad slewing crane is an absolute must for model railroaders who want to expand their layout with a fully functional crane. With its comprehensive functionality, detailed controls and switchable sound and light functions, this crane offers not only fun to play with but also a high degree of realism. The ability to control the crane via the Z21 app or even with a PS4 controller in particular makes the model a technical highlight on any model railway layout.
Thanks to its robust construction and precise control, the crane is suitable for use in train formations as well as for independent work on the layout. This model can be used to realistically recreate impressive scenarios such as the laying of track yokes, points or bridges.
