Description

The T 478.1 series was a CSD diesel-electric universal locomotive. A total of 230 locomotives of the T 478.1 series were delivered from 1966-1971. A built-in steam boiler provided the train heating. The protruding projections under the front windows quickly earned it the nickname "Bardotka", loosely based on Brigitte Bardot, the French actress. The locomotives have gone through several color variations over the years. From the mid-1970s, the first standard color scheme was implemented for CSD diesel vehicles. The locomotive body was painted cherry red and the roof and running gear were painted gray.
