Historically significant - the predecessor of the class 218

The class 217 was created as a transitional solution to the later class 218. Only 15 machines were built between 1965 and 1968, which were designed as a more powerful variant with electric train heating for push-pull trains. The 217 003 is one of the three prototypes of this series and represents a particularly exciting chapter in German locomotive history.

The model impresses with an exact reproduction of all prototypical modifications. Numerous extra parts - some of which are etched - underline the high-quality standard. In digital operation, the headlights/tail lights, cab lighting and engine room lighting can be switched separately. An integrated flywheel ensures smooth acceleration and braking.

Technically well thought out with prototypical details

The model has four powered axles, one of which has traction tires. Low wheel flanges are used for maximum prototypical fidelity. Spare wheel sets with 1.2 mm high wheel flanges are available under item no. 145433 and 145435. The NEM 362 coupler pocket with close coupler link ensures flexible use in train sets.
