The 7310080 H0 diesel locomotive 309, known by its nickname "Sik", is a detailed replica of the famous Dutch shunting locomotive. With its typical yellow-grey color scheme and technical equipment, it offers model railroaders a unique driving experience. This locomotive is the ideal addition to all H0 model railway layouts that want to combine historical and modern elements.
The "Sik" is a two-axle shunting diesel locomotive that was procured by the Dutch State Railways (NS) between 1934 and 1951. A total of 169 locomotives were built in several series. The manufacturer Werkspoor supplied the majority of the vehicles, while one series was built by CW Zwolle. Their characteristic exhaust sound, reminiscent of the bleating of a goat, earned them the nickname "Sik", which means "goat" in Dutch.
The "Sikken" were in tireless use throughout Holland. They were used for light shunting tasks and freight transport, where their high reliability and maneuverability were in demand. Fifteen of these machines were fitted with cranes in the 1970s in order to extend their range of applications. After the original green paintwork, the characteristic yellow-grey color scheme was introduced, which characterizes the Era VI model.
In the 1990s, stricter health and safety regulations led to the decommissioning of most locomotives. However, many examples were preserved and can be seen today on museum railroads or private railroad companies - proof of the great popularity of this robust workhorse.
Era VI, which begins in 2007, is characterized by privatization and international developments in rail transport. Locomotive 309 is used as a private locomotive during this time and reflects the dynamism and diversity of this era. The yellow-grey color scheme, combined with modern technology, makes it a unique model that should not be missing on any modern model railway layout.
The model comes from Roco, one of the leading manufacturers of model railroads. Roco is known for its precise workmanship, the combination of modern technologies and historical attention to detail. The die-cast zinc body of the locomotive ensures high stability and tractive power, while the many intricate details, such as free-standing grab irons and finely designed plug-in parts, underline Roco's model-making skills.
The 7310080 H0 diesel locomotive 309 has numerous special technical features that optimize the model for operation on direct current systems. The engine front end and the gear block are made of die-cast zinc, which increases the dead weight and improves tractive power. A digital shunting coupling enables realistic shunting and considerably increases the fun of playing.
The locomotive is equipped with an onboard decoder that makes prototypical light and sound functions digitally controllable. The switchable flashing light on the driver's cab and the clear view through the replica driver's cab are additional details that make the model a real eye-catcher. The built-in buffer capacitor also ensures an uninterrupted power supply, even in difficult track conditions.
The yellow-grey color scheme of Era VI is precisely applied and gives the locomotive its characteristic appearance. The printing is clean and true to the original, while the numerous applied details, such as the filigree crane and the free-standing grab irons, underline the historical authenticity of the model.
The combination of a detailed replica, modern technical features and versatile application options makes the 7310080 H0 diesel locomotive 309 an indispensable model. The high tractive power, the digital shunting coupling and the extensive sound and light functions ensure a realistic driving experience and enhance any H0 layout.
The locomotive is ideal for use in industrial and shunting facilities, on port facilities or on branch lines. It can be used for freight transportation as well as for shunting individual wagons. Thanks to its versatility, it is also ideal for use on layouts with museum or private trains.
The 7310080 H0 diesel locomotive 309, NS, Ep. VI, DC sound is a true masterpiece of model making. It combines historical authenticity with modern technical functions and is an absolute highlight for both collectors and active model railroaders. With its robust construction and digital features, it offers endless application possibilities and realistic playing fun.
