About the original: The ÖBB class 2043 is a diesel locomotive with 4 axles, which was designed to replace outdated steam locomotives on non-electrified lines. This plan matured as early as the 1940s, but could not be tackled until the end of the 1950s due to the consequences of the war. As a result, the 2043 series was able to enter service from 1964, which only ended for the last unit over 50 years later, on August 1, 2023. Most of the 2043s were retired from service because they no longer met the requirements due to their age, more modern locomotives took their place and because more and more lines were electrified, which is why fewer and fewer diesel locomotives were needed.
About the model: The Roco model of this long-serving Austrian diesel locomotive offers an outstanding and true-to-original appearance as well as great technical features and excellent running characteristics. The look is characterized by the perfectly matched blood orange colour scheme and the ivory-coloured roof. The look is completed by a multitude of intricate details on the roof, locomotive body and running gear and by the true-to-original red wheels. The model is powered by a 5-pole motor with a flywheel. This ensures even power transmission and therefore also outstanding running characteristics. The various light and sound functions can be switched digitally thanks to a factory-fitted sound decoder. The sound is clear, powerful and true to the original.
