The Roco 2-part set of the diesel locomotives 111 018-8 and 111 019-6 of the Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR) in Era IV represents the delivery condition of 1982. Both locomotives are fully equipped and have characteristic ladders as etched parts as well as free-standing, filigree grab irons. The locomotives were based at Rostock depot.
At the end of the 1970s, the DR ordered 37 heavy shunting locomotives from LEW Henningsdorf, which had already developed such machines for export. The locomotives, built in three batches between 1981 and 1983, were equipped with a proven 1,000 hp engine and had a transmission with a modified gear ratio, similar to the V 100 series. The maximum speed was 65 km/h. A ballast weight was installed due to the lack of a boiler. The locomotives were painted orange-yellow and railings were fitted to the front ends to ensure the safety of the shunting staff.
