Roco 7500070 H0 electric locomotive ES 64 U2-100, HUPAC, Ep.VI Product Details

Description

The history of the silver-painted ES64U2 locomotives began in 2000, although the first locomotive of this type was not built for ÖBB. In September of the same year, the Siemens works in Munich-Allach delivered a locomotive with the road number 1116 901. Siemens decides to build some additional ES64U2 and ES64F machines, which are being built in large numbers for various customers at this time, as the basis for a pool for its new leasing activities. Siemens Dispolok GmbH is founded as an independent subsidiary to manage the locomotive pool. Hupac SA, one of the leading providers of intermodal rail transport through the Swiss Alps, was one of the first customers for the new Siemens pool and was able to have its locomotive painted in its own corporate colors. In 2002, all three locomotives were converted for operation in Switzerland. The Swiss safety/signaling systems ZUB/Integra and pantographs with smaller contacts (1450 mm), which are required for operation in the numerous Swiss tunnels, were used. All three machines are used in Germany and Switzerland for many different services, not only for the transportation of Hupac convoys, but also for Hupac partners and other open access operators who need traction for a certain period of time.
