Description

Roco 7500170 H0 Re 4/4 III 43 electric locomotive - SOB classic with shape variant

The Roco 7500170 Re 4/4 III 43 electric locomotive is a real highlight of the Swiss private railroad tradition. This shape variant shows the Re 4/4 III of the Swiss Southeastern Railway (SOB) in the design of Era IV-V - including characteristic round headlights, rectangular buffers and the "Rothenthurm" emblem. A model with a striking appearance, great historical reference and optimal technology for use in H0 scale.

Detailed design for Swiss shuttle operation

The model impresses with a new front section with large, round private railroad headlights, new rear-view mirrors and rectangular buffers - typical for the SOB commuter train suitability on steep lines with up to 50 ‰. The "Rothenthurm" emblem and the neat lettering are a real visual feature. The switchable light functions (incl. Swiss light change) can be adjusted via DIP switches. The model is also Z21 cab compatible.

State-of-the-art technology

With four powered axles, a traction tire axle and an integrated flywheel, the locomotive offers impressive driving characteristics. The PluX22 interface makes it easy to retrofit digital components. The LED lighting and the realistic Swiss light change make it fit for modern layouts.

Historical background - The SOB Re 4/4 III

The Re 4/4 III was originally a variant of the SBB Re 4/4 II with an adapted gear ratio for steep lines. The SOB received its first Re 4/4 III in 1967, others were added in the 1980s by taking over SBB locomotives (11351-11353). The locomotives were known as the "Golden Chair" due to their striking paintwork and reliability and were used in express train services between Romanshorn, Lucerne and Arth-Goldau. From 1992, they also made their mark on the Voralpen Express with the popular standard coach IV. They returned to SBB in 1994-1996 - a locomotive history cycle.

Secure now - SOB legend for your layout

The Roco 7500170 Re 4/4 III 43 in SOB design is a finely detailed model with a wide variety of shapes and typical private railway features. Ideal for Swiss themed layouts, collectors and anyone looking for unusual locomotives with history!
