Description

Roco 7500209 H0 Electric locomotive 1116 014-2, ÖBB, Ep. VI

The Roco 7500209 electric locomotive 1116 014-2 represents a modern Taurus locomotive of the Austrian Federal Railways in epoch VI. With striking "Rail Cargo Hungaria" lettering and numerous intricate details, it is a highlight for model railroaders who want to authentically recreate international freight traffic. Thanks to modern technology and prototypical lettering, this locomotive brings a piece of current railroad reality to the model railroad.

Prototype and history of use

The modernization of the ÖBB electric locomotive fleet began with the introduction of the Taurus series 1016 in the summer of 1999. The further development as a two-system locomotive, the 1116 series, was built in 282 units until 2006. These locomotives are approved for a maximum speed of 230 km/h and have an output of 6,400 kW. The 1116 014 locomotive is equipped with the country package for Austria, Germany, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Switzerland. In 2008, Rail Cargo Austria acquired the freight division of the Hungarian railroad, and since then "Rail Cargo Hungaria" has been part of the Rail Cargo Group, which also operates this locomotive.

Exclusive details of the model realization

The model impresses with its precise printing with "Rail Cargo Hungaria" lettering. Different buffer skirts provide additional authenticity: Siemens and Krauss Maffei on front 1, only Siemens on front 2. This fine finish realistically reflects the special features of the prototype locomotive and makes the locomotive a real collector's item.

Technical equipment

The locomotive is equipped with a powerful drive system: Four axles are driven, one of them with traction tires. A flywheel ensures smooth running characteristics. The headlights and marker lights are directional and equipped with modern LED technology. The light functions can be set individually using a DIP switch. Thanks to the PluX22 interface, the locomotive can be easily digitized. It is also Z21 cab compatible and therefore ideally prepared for modern digital operation.

Use on the model railroad

With a length over buffers of 221 mm and a minimum radius of 358 mm, the locomotive can be used universally. It is ideal for international freight traffic in Era VI and can be used prototypically on routes to Germany, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Switzerland. This makes it a perfect addition to modern model railroad layouts with cross-border operation.
