Roco 7500284 H0 E-Lok Rh 1042.47 ÖBB, Ep.III-IV Product Details

Description

Roco 7500284 – ÖBB Electric Locomotive 1042.47 in H0, Era IV, DC Analog

Are you looking for a classic ÖBB electric locomotive for your H0 analog layout that can also be retrofitted for digital operation later on? The Roco 7500284 replicates the ÖBB’s 1042.47. This newly announced model combines the characteristic design of the second series with a PluX22 interface. This allows you to recreate Austrian train journeys while remaining flexible in your choice of control system.

Distinctive Details of the Second Series

Intricately designed roof grilles, a pantograph with a unique mounting, and top-mounted door handles characterize this model. A stop on the staging track offers the perfect opportunity to take a closer look at the roof section and side walls.

For example, stage a locomotive change at the station: The current locomotive is uncoupled while your 1042.47 is already waiting on the adjacent track. This creates an operational scene in which the model really shines, even beyond long-distance journeys.

Analog Operation and Digital Retrofit

The locomotive is designed for the H0 two-wire DC system and comes from the factory without a digital decoder or sound. A suitable decoder can be retrofitted via the PluX22 interface.

This allows you to use the model in analog mode initially and upgrade to digital later, depending on your layout plans. The required decoder must be purchased separately.

Four-Axle Drive and LED Direction-Dependent Lighting

Four powered axles, a flywheel, and traction tires are part of the technical features. These are complemented by direction-dependent LED lighting and a close-coupling mechanism.

The Prototype: the ÖBB Class 1042

The first Class 1042 electric locomotives were delivered to the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) in 1963. A total of 257 locomotives were in service. Initially used primarily on the Southern Railway, the class later spread throughout Austria. In cross-border service, the locomotives also operated in Germany.

This reference to the prototype offers inspiration for your layout design: from an Austrian station to a recreated mountain route. Choose appropriate passenger or freight cars based on the time period and the specific train composition you wish to depict.

Train Formation and Layout Planning

Allow sufficient space for your train set on platform and siding tracks. In addition to the locomotive’s minimum turning radius, take into account the requirements of your cars and ensure their couplers are compatible.

For ÖBB collectors and fans of analog model railroads, the 1042.47 offers a great starting point for new train formations. Even on a modest station track, you can create varied operating scenarios with a well-coordinated group of cars.

Package Contents and Purchase Recommendation

This item includes a Roco 1042.47 electric locomotive in a DC analog version without a digital decoder.

Expand your ÖBB collection with the Roco 7500284 and put an Austrian classic into service on your next route. Order your model and start planning the perfect train set for its first run!
