On 22 May 1975, the "Swiss Express" train category of the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) was introduced together with the commissioning of the Heitersberg line and existed until 1982. This category replaced the former city express trains. At the time, they were regarded as SBB's flagship trains and served the most important Geneva - St. Gallen route. At that time, the trains were hauled by eight specially prepared Re 4/4 II locomotives. Unfortunately, only the 11108 and the 11109 are still reminiscent of the former livery today.
With the Re 4/4 II 11108, we are announcing one of the more popular locomotives. Still in regular service until 2021, the "cream slice", as it is affectionately known, is now parked in Olten. There it awaits further use.
