The class 1216 (Taurus III) electric locomotive is one of the most modern multi-system locomotives in Europe. Developed on the basis of Siemens EuroSprinter technology, it is known as type ES64U4 and is in service in numerous European countries. The Czech state railroad CD took over two of these high-performance locomotives - 1216 902 and 903 - from RTS in 2019 and had them repainted in the striking Najbrt design. The Roco H0 model now brings this impressive locomotive with extensive digital and sound equipment to your DC system.

The ES64U4 is a universally applicable high-speed locomotive that can reach a speed of 230 km/h with up to 6,400 kW of power. Since the takeover by CD, locomotives 1216 902 and 903 have been active in EuroCity traffic - mostly on international routes between the Czech Republic, Austria and Germany.

Compatibility & expansion options

The locomotive is suitable for all common 2L direct current systems and can be ideally combined with EuroCity coaches, Intercity train sets or Railjet compositions. Thanks to the NEM coupler with close coupler link, it can be used flexibly and offers high operational reliability even on tight radii from 358 mm.
