The Roco 7510147 H0 electric locomotive 144 507-1 is a new version of the legendary class E 44.5 of the Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB). This precise replica from Era IV brings the history of this important locomotive back to life. With many detailed replicas and ultra-modern functions, the model is an enrichment for any model railroad ensemble. Particularly noteworthy is the Freilassing edition, which makes this model a special collector's item for railroad fans and model railroaders.
The E 44.5 series was developed in the early 1930s and represented an important milestone in German locomotive history. The series was a further development of the E 75 series and was built by the German locomotive manufacturers Maffei-Schwartzkopff and Berliner Maschinenbau AG. The machines of the E 44.5 series were characterized by their output of around 2,200 kW and a top speed of 90 km/h. From 1970, the E 44.5 was extensively modernized by replacing the old signal lamps with the new DB standard lamps and replacing the pantographs with modernized models.
The 144 507 belonged to the second series of the E 44.5 and was intended for use on the mountain railroad, in particular on the Salzburg - Freilassing - Berchtesgaden line. The locomotive also mastered challenging sections of line with flying colors and had a long service life, during which it also hauled express trains such as the IC 511 'Chiemgau'. Three class E 44.5 locomotives are still preserved today as museum locomotives.
The Roco 7510147 H0 electric locomotive 144 507-1 model impresses with a large number of detail improvements and modern functions:
Operating condition around 1979/1980: The locomotive is reproduced in its condition at the end of the 1970s and fits perfectly with the trains of this era.
Pantograph type SBS-10/54: The locomotive is equipped with the well-known and powerful pantographs that were used in German railroad history at that time.
Extra attached windshield wipers: The fine details, such as the realistically attached windshield wipers, emphasize the high quality of this model.
Wheel sets with low wheel flanges: These ensure smooth driving behavior and perfect directional stability.
In digital mode with switchable driver's cab and engine room lighting: The model offers the latest digital technology with which you can illuminate the driver's cab and engine room in detail.
The Roco 7510147 H0 electric locomotive 144 507-1 is not only a visual masterpiece, but also offers advanced digital functions. Thanks to digital operation, you can control the cab and engine room lighting separately and get a realistic representation of the locomotive in operation. The lighting is LED-based and alternates between red and white light, which corresponds to the prototype in its authentic form.
The model is part of the Freilassing Edition, a series of replicas that originate from the former Freilassing railroad depot. The depot, which was opened in 1905, is known for its proximity to Roco and its close cooperation with the town of Freilassing. Models from this edition are particularly sought after by collectors as they reflect the history of this unique plant and its significance for German railroad history.
