A new era of comfortable EuroCity services between Switzerland and Italy began in August 2005. The Re 484 locomotives in the Cisalpino design - a cooperation between SBB and Trenitalia - took over cross-border passenger services on the Berne-Geneva-Milan routes. The characteristic design in silver, red and light blue made these trains an eye-catcher on the international routes. This H0 version from Roco brings the Era V version with modern digital technology, sound and fine LED lighting to your layout.
The model impresses with its high-quality multi-color design in the typical Cisalpino look. The precise printing of the red, grey and light blue color areas and the elegant lines perfectly reflect the aesthetics of Era V. The shape of the body and the details used are based exactly on the TRAXX family - a real eye-catcher for international train compositions.
The locomotive is equipped with a powerful drive over three axles and has a flywheel for smooth running. The factory-fitted sound decoder provides realistic operating sounds. The LED lighting with red/white light change can be controlled digitally and rounds off the technical package.
The use of the Re 484 eliminated the need to change locomotives at the border - the total travel time between Switzerland and Italy could be significantly reduced. The six locomotives remained in service until the end of 2007 before they were replaced following the delivery of new multiple units. As the first Re 484 in scheduled passenger train service, they set the standard for modern comfort transport across national borders.
The model is ideally suited for AC digital layouts with the Märklin system. The PluX22 interface allows the model to be expanded for the future. It can be ideally combined with international EuroCity cars or Swiss passenger cars of Era V.
