The unmistakable design of the BB 15000 was created by the famous designer Paul Arzens and became a symbol of French electric locomotives in the 1970s. Between 1971 and 1976, Alstom built a total of 65 of these machines, which were designed exclusively for the alternating current system. They were regarded as technical milestones - with two driver's cabs but only one pantograph.

The Roco version of the BB 15060 has the silver-grey multiservice design of the SNCF, with smooth side walls without address panels. The locomotive bears the "Creil" emblem and has a prototypical roof design with filigree pantographs.
