Class 103 - Icon of long-distance transportation

As the DB's most powerful locomotive, the class E 03 was designed from the mid-1960s for high-quality express train services. Between 1970 and 1974, 145 series machines went into service. The last 30 units (from 103 216) were given an extended driver's cab - including the 103 233-3 shown here. At the end of its service life, it was painted traffic red with a brightly contrasting frame at the suggestion of railroad fans - a campaign sponsored by ROCO.

The special paint scheme in traffic red with a contrasting frame gives the locomotive a modern appearance while paying homage to the classic 103 at the same time. The fine printing, the striking dedication text under the driver's cab window and the exact proportions set standards in terms of faithfulness to the prototype. The model also has digitally switchable cab and engine room lighting.

Digital sound for Märklin layouts

The factory-integrated PluX22 decoder provides realistic operating sounds such as traction motors, starting and braking noises as well as additional functions such as individually switchable headlights and marker lights. The lighting is provided by long-life LEDs and supports an authentic representation by day and night.

Ideal locomotive for InterRegio traffic

The 103 233-3 goes perfectly with the InterRegio car sets (item no. 6200208, 6200209, 6210210) and forms a realistic Era V train set with these. The locomotive can be used universally thanks to the NEM 362 shaft and close coupler kinematics and also offers an extended digital driving experience with the Z21 driver's cab.
