The Roco 7540004 H0e electric locomotive 1099.001 of the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) is a faithfully reproduced narrow gauge locomotive from Era IV. This locomotive, specially designed for the famous Mariazell Railroad, impresses with numerous prototypical details and high-quality workmanship.
Between 1911 and 1914, a total of 16 locomotives of this type were procured by the Lower Austrian State Railways, especially for use on the Mariazell Railway. From 1959, the vehicles were extensively modernized, whereby the running gear was retained but the locomotive bodies were renewed. The locomotive 1099.001 bears the coat of arms of the city of St. Pölten, which underlines its close connection to the region. With an output of 405 kW and a maximum speed of 50 km/h, it was ideally suited for the demanding narrow-gauge traffic.
In Era IV (1965-1990), the Mariazell Railway played an important role in regional transport. The class 1099 locomotives were modernized during this time to make them fit for the new requirements without losing their characteristic charm.
The model has separately applied windscreen wipers, LED headlights with direction-dependent headlight change and a Next18 interface for easy digitization. Thanks to the robust design and the small minimum radius of 261 mm, it is ideal for operation on narrow-gauge layouts.
The Roco 7540004 is an ideal choice for model railroaders who want to recreate the Mariazell Railway in Era IV. With its attention to detail and high quality, it is the perfect addition to any H0e narrow gauge layout.
