Description

The TRAXX AC2 is a consistent further development of the first TRAXX series. The most obvious difference is that the vehicles have a redesigned locomotive body. The designation TRAXX stands for "Transnational Railway Applications with eXtreme fleXibility". The locomotive, derived directly from the 145 series but now with a modified design and series designation, could now be used for both the 15 kV/16 2/3 Hz and 25 kV/50 Hz AC voltage systems commonly used in Europe. With a weight of 84 t, it has a continuous output of 5.6 MW and is approved for 140 km/h.
